To The Ends of The Earth

This Saturday I held a candlelight prayer vigil at UBC called "To The Ends of The Earth." After about a month of praying, planning, researching, writing, purchasing, and advertising (as well as a day or two of making foil candle holders) we finally met together to spend a night of seeking salvation for the lost through prayer. A special thanks to all those whose prayers and financial contributions to the IMB made this event possible.

We started from The Ends of The Earth and moved in closer and closer. We prayed for the different IMB/NAMB regions of the world excluding African ones(East Asia, South Asia, Pacific Rim, Central Asia, Middle East...technically half a region..., Central & Eastern Europe, Western Europe, South America, Middle America & The Caribbean, and North America) and then for the unengaged macro people groups of the world outside of Africa. From there we moved to the different parts of the African continent (North Africa, West Africa, and CESA), with each prayer group praying for the lost of a few different countries from each African region.

We then moved closer and prayed for the lost of Uganda, then the community (Mbarara), then campus. From there we got really personal as each person prayed for the lost amongst their own friends and family. Lastly we prayed seeking how God would use us to reach out to the lost. I told them about the opportunity to be a part of the new Evangelism and Discipleship Ministry and challenged them to pray as to whether God is calling them to go out as missionaries, whether they can see how it would work out or not. I finished by reading Romans 10:14-15 and going around the room telling each person that they were now sent and then asking what they would do about it.

In all we were there for just over 4 hours entreating God through prayer to provide laborers for the harvest and to draw the lost of the world, the continent, the country, the community, the campus, and even of our friends and family to salvation in Christ. About 35 people in all were there at some point, with maybe 25 committed guys and girls who were there from the beginning to the end. I thank God that we can know that those prayers were heard and pray that at the same time He was working in the hearts and souls of those present to give them a heart for the lost and a conviction for spreading the gospel.
